0700. 9th March year 2014. Alarm sounds. Being a wedding band, we’re more night owls than early risers. Must.get.up….have a wedding fair in Bournemouth to get to! Our second one this year, well second one ever! Jamie was going to be doing some singing at a Bournemouth wedding fair taking place the Green House Hotel. We’d love to take the whole band to perform at a wedding fair, but as we can take take up alot of space, we thought it best to showcase The Zoots with lead singer & frontman Jamie Goddard singing with his acoustic guitar!
We arrived at The Green House Hotel in Bournemouth, what an amazing venue! They are the greenest hotel in the UK, using local produce, recycling & reusing wherever they can, taking time to consider the environment in absolutely everything they can do, for example, all of the timber flooring using throughout the hotel comes from a sustainable source! You can read more about what they do here. Here at Zoots HQ, we too do what we can for the environment. We all travel together to gigs in one vehicle (The Red Dragon) meaning there are 4 fewer vehicles on the road! We use only recycled paper for printing, both in the office and for our 1000s of flyers we give out every year. We recycle what we can, wherever we can, we work with other like minded environmentally friendly suppliers. We may only be a small company but doing what we can do reduce our carbon footprint will hopefully encourage others to do the same.
The wedding fair was terrific. Jamie sang his wee heart out, even debuted his version of ‘Ho Hey’ by The Lumineers (awesome track). When Jamie wasn’t singing, he chatted to some lovely brides & suppliers telling them all about The Zoots and what we do. We met some amazing suppliers and some really lovely bride & grooms.
In our room, was the absolutely lovely Laura Mackenzie, a hair artist who had the most amazing portfolio. She was an absolute pleasure to chat to. Hope our paths cross one day again soon. Check out her website here.
Amanda & Helen from Forever were there showing off their huge range of Aloe Vera products, offering free testers and chatting to brides about Aloe Vera. We blooming love Aloe Vera so really enjoyed chatting to the gals about what they do and why everyone needs more Aloe in their lives.
We also met the lovely Molly & Harlequin. They had a fabulous display of retro vintage & quirky items, including some vintage pin up playing cards – very cool. You can find them on twitter.
Annie Rose was there, a wonderful floral artist. She had such a beautiful display, (should have taken a photo!). As we were leaving she gave us some gorgeous flowers which are now brightening up the kitchen at Zoots HQ. Annie is based in Dorset and can produce her flowery delights for all sorts of events. You can find more about what she does by visiting her website or following her on Twitter.
Those lovely folks from Lush we’re there, you could even make your own bath bomb! We also got to meet Amy from Only Fools & Flutterbyes – they make some really wonderful handmade gifts, was very difficult not to buy them all!
Alex from Old Crocks was there too, keeping us cool with some delish ice cream samples and showing off his fab photo booth for hire.
All in all it was a fab day, ending with lots of cake eating & number swapping! We couldn’t leave without a quick walk on Bournemouth beach in the glorious sunshine. Jamie did wish he had brought a change of clothes! On the drive home, we took a short detour past the famous Stone Henge, it looked positively majestic as the sun set on the horizon! We were shattered when we finally made it home to Zoots HQ, but really overwhelmed at the lovely people we met. Big thank you to Heidi, Sam & Sarah and everyone involved in making it happen.
