Sounds of the 60s show PART 2
Last week we wrote about the first half of our sell out show at Beccles Public Hall. This week, we wanted to tell you about what happened in the second half.
Set 2 began with our Sergeant Peppers and our red guards jackets! Alan Lyall took some amazing photos which we couldn’t wait to share with you in this blog! He’s snapped some great photos of our vintage Vox amps.
Since 2018, The Zoots have been enjoying using the Vox AC30 amps. We feel it gives the songs more of an authentic feel, with their iconic grill pattern and recognisable badges, these are the real deal. They are also very, very heavy at nearly 34 kgs. These amps have been around since 1960 and were used by most of the UK groups in the early 60’s. Groups such as The Beatles, The Stones, The Yarbirds and The Kinks. The amps have a very distinctive tone that it as also linked with guitarists such as Brian May and The Edge and now, of course, The Zoots. We’ve also added a Vox T-60 bass amp which is a lot lighter which feels better when we pack away after an energetic 2 hour show!

We have so many great songs in our Sounds of The Sixties show, it’s hard to choose a favourite. In set 2, we really enjoy performing California Dreaming by The Mamas and Papas. It’s amazing to think that the song was written in 1965, 54 years ago! We really enjoy the haunting harmonies for this song. They took a long time to figure out, but it’s been really worth it!
Here are some photos of us in action.
We try to encourage audience participation as much as possible. We love hearing you sing and clap along, perhaps even joining us on stage for a number!! One of the highlights of the evening at Beccles Public Hall was when Debbie from Essex got up on stage to perform with the band. Here’s the video:
Here’s more pictures of The Zoots with Debbie. She was a natural and was even colour coordinated her top to match with Jamie!

Adam is here pictured playing on the Burns Apache Noiseless Special limited edition guitar which was kindly provided by Burns in London. Jamie says “The Apache is the best guitar I’ve ever owned but it just sounds better when Adam plays it”. Jamie uses a Burns Double Six 12 string guitar which helps The Zoots to create that authentic 60s sound.
All in all, it was a really terrific show. Not a single seat available, it was a wonderful atmosphere! We loved seeing and meeting many of you after the performance! Thank you always for all of your support.
A big thank you to Danny and Margaret Bramhald at the end of the show, The Zoots performed at Dannys 50th birthday party and are booked to play Margaret’s 50th in 2021!
A massive THANK YOU to all the staff from Beccles Public Halls, they really did make us feel very welcome.
We hope to see you all at some of our up and coming shows all listed here, we have more than ever so please tell your friends and family and help us to spread the word! Thank you so much for reading!
