Hello Sunday…! Yesterday we had a wicked awesome night dressing up as ‘The Glam Rocks‘ for Amanda’s party in Swindon. The night before that we we’re allllllll that way, over there, in Suffolk for Ed’s birthday party, which was…nothing short of immense. And today, well today is the icing on the cake of our deliciously wild weekend. We’re heading to Cornwall to perform for the totally gorgeous Amie & Andy for their wedding.

Amie and Andy emailed us way back in August 2014. They’d spotted The Zoots on the Internet and liked what they saw. We loved the idea of hiring out a campsite in Cornwall for a wedding. Great views, great place and lots of space for their guests to stay the night; it was going to be brilliant. I loved liaising with Amie in the lead up to the wedding, running through the plans, itinerary and ideas for the day. She was so helpful, organised and really went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed.

In the lead up to the wedding, Amie and Andy even found the time to come and watch us when we performed at The Stamford Corn Exchange with our 1960s show. It was great to meet the couple and we really appreciated them making the journey to come and see us.

We met at Zoots HQ at 1230 to load our equipment in the van and get everything we needed ready for the day. Lead guitarist Ben, Bass player Stu and Drummer Mike joined us and we set off, bound for Cornwall. I was particularly excited as I’m reading ‘Jamaica Inn’ by Daphne Du Maurier and we would drive right passed in on our journey South! The 3 hour journey was a jolly and happy one. We stopped for tea and refreshments and continued to make good time as we headed South.

We arrived and we were greeted by Jeff who showed us where we could park the van to load in. The load in was really brilliant as we could park our van right next to the stage, undo the marquee and load our equipment right on to the stage. This was really ideal. We have a lot of heavy equipment which we bring with us, so the closer we can the better.

I loved the decorations, the bunting, the paper pom poms, the hay bales, chalk boards and the splashes of colour everywhere, it looked wonderful. They even had a mobile bar in the form of a van provided by those folks at Beer Buz. It looked awesome.

We met with photographer Jonny, the bridesmaids and of course Amie & Andy. Amie looked stunning. Now we haven’t seen the (pro) photos (yet) from Amie & Andy’s wedding but we know they are going to be awesome. Just check out Jonny’s website. WOWSIE. He was super lovely and friendly too, so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Cornwall, he is your man.

We set up our kit, sound-checked and made our way to our caravan which Amie and Andy had kindly arranged for us to use for the evening. It was really great to have somewhere we could use for the evening, sheltered, warm and with enough space to warm up and relax in before our performance. Amie and Andy had so kindly sorted out some sandwiches and left us provisions so we could make teas and coffees which were greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! 😀

We were ready to go on:

The couple had chosen Ben Howard’s Only Love for their first dance, a lovely track.

Following their first dance, we kicked off our set with Eddie Cochran’s ‘C’mon Everybody‘. We love this track, it got everyone up and dancing. We had so many songs in our sets, we couldn’t possible list them all. Amie and Andy had chosen loads of cool songs from our repertoire so we had loads to choose from.

During our break, Stu hit the decks and played some awesome wick (non Christmas music) tunes for the guests to enjoy:

We got to meet some of the guests and chat a little more with the groom, Andy:

Then we were back on for set 2. We love this photo of our lead guitarist Ben Jones with Michael, the best man. Set two was one of my favourites as Ben went out into the crowd and did some ‘over the head’ guitaring. It was amazing and I loved it.
