It’s 9am, we’re up early, bound for Camber! Today is the 11th of October (*cough* my birthday), the day of Liz and John’s wedding! Coffee is the drink of the morning, and lots of it following our gig in Plymouth the last night. A gallon of coffee, a few glasses of juice, a couple of boiled eggs and a bowl of porridge later, we’ve jumped in the band van and were raring to go! It looks kinda rainy-sunny-rainy-sunny. It’s just Zoots lead guitarist Ben, Jamie & I this morning. Drummer Mike and Bass player Stuhoney will be joining us later on for the evenings celebrations. Continue reading
Today, it’s a special one on the blog for The Zoots. It’s the 4th of October 2014 and SAM IS GETTING MARRIED! I’ve known Sam since school. At the age of 11 we became friends as we both embarked on 5 year venture through secondary school. We then journeyed through college together and went our separate ways a few years later for university. Our paths have crossed over the years as we’ve kept up to date with what each other has been doing via Facebook and mutual friends. Sam got in touch in January 2014, having seen The Zoots on The Independence of The Seas a few years ago, she wondered if we performed at weddings and if we would be available to perform at hers! We said yes!!! I was so excited and nervous and happy and smily and feeling so wonderful that Sam had asked us! Continue reading
It’s the 13th of September and we’re on our way to Exeter. We’re performing at The Great Barn and boy, are we are excited. I mean just look at it!
Tim & Sarah got i touch back in May this year to see if we were available to perform on their wedding day. We consulted our show dates and yipeeeee we were available! We said yes and they said yes! THIS WAS HAPPENING. Continue reading
Now this wedding takes me back! I first met Leona over 20 years ago, at school! We were 14, I had long hair, played the drums and wanted to be a rock star. We used to hang out in MacDonalds in Maidenhead putting the world to rights, spending my paper round money on chips, life was great! Never would I have thought 20 years later we would have been performing for Leona on her wedding day! Massive thanks goes to Lisa, Leona’s bestie who actually remembered me and recommended us to Leona. Lisa got in touch back in February to see if I was available for Leona’s wedding. Leona and her fiance David live in New York so Lisa took got in touch on their behalf. It made total sense what with the time difference! I was so thrilled to be asked to perform! And so pleased they’d remembered me! Continue reading
Wayhay *finally* it’s August the 8th! We’ve been waiting for this day for months and months. Today it the day of Libby & Simon’s wedding. They got in touch with us last September asking if we were free to perform on their day and if we had any public gigs coming up they could come and watch. We said yes and yes! By chance, we were preparing for a 1960s themed event at Windsor Guild Hall which was a public event! (unfortunately it was during those ‘pre-blog’ days so photos are not online but it was so so good, rumour has it even Jimmy Page came to watch us), anyway…I told Libby about the event and she and Simon made the journey from Bristol to come watch us! And the rest is history, well not quite…
They said yes! And we were booked to perform on their wedding day at the very amazing Bowood House. One of our favourite ever venues to perform at. Arno, Hannah, Jade and the team are just brilliant and are always such a real pleasure to work with. We love working with them!
Before the big day, we met with Simon & Libby at Bowood House to run through the itinerary, set up and logistics. We saw the room we were performing in and worked out where we would set up. It was so great to do this, not only did it give us another excuse to meet up with the lovely Simon & Libby, but really helped us prepare for the day. Continue reading
Saturday got off to a great start. Lead Guitarist Ben and Bass player Stuart stayed over a Zoots HQ following our gig the night before in Brean with our other group Jamie & The First Class. We started the day off with a tasty cooked breakfast before being joined by drummer Master East and hitting the road, bound for Sussex to perform at the wedding of Juliette & Nicolas. We met them a few weeks previously to talk weddings. Read all about it here. The journey was good, the weather was nice and we made good time. We stopped on the way to make a few phone calls and take some selfies. Continue reading
Last weekend was pretty busy! It began on Friday in Brean where we performed with our ‘sister act’, Jamie and the First Class. Afterwards we ventured North to the Lake District to perform at a very lovely wedding for James and Abbie, read the blog about it here.
Jen got in touch back in October to see if we were available to be her party band for the night. The party sounded fabulous and we were thrilled to be asked! We met with Jen and her husband Richard at Bowood House a few weeks before the bash to run through their song choices and where we would be setting up. We like to do this is we can as its always good to put faces to names and run through the plan for the evening! They were just lovely, and the party sounded brilliant. They had chosen some great songs for the evening, La Bamba, Hound Dog, Daydream Believer, Twist & Shout, Moves Like Jagger and loads more! We were so excited to be performing them. Continue reading
Saturday was the 3rd of May 2014. We’d been looking forward to Saturday for a long time. It was the day we were performing for James & Abbie for their wedding at Fell Foot Park in the Lake District. Owned by the National Trust, their website park promises Fell Foot to be a ‘lakeshore park with stunning mountain views’. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The couple had organised for a very special marquee to be erected on the grounds (boy, there are marquees and there are marquees – this one was hugeeee!) – it was outstanding. But more about that later… Continue reading
On Friday 4th April 2014 we ( The Zoots ) performed at The Royal Thames Yacht Club Young Members Masquerade Ball.
It was a truly awesome night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our second performance at the venue in Knightsbridge following the success of the Carribean themed ball in 2013. This year was even better performance and the crowd were totally awesome! It was a brilliant performance by the band and we look forward to going back again in 2015. Continue reading
