I was lucky enough to grow up in the town of Maidenhead in Berkshire and ever since Norden Farm, Centre for the Arts was built in 2000, I have always wanted to play there. It was so close when I lived in Maidenhead, I used to walk to the venue and watch some of the live music events there. When I formed The Zoots, I hoped we’d, one day, perform at Norden Farm, and today was that day, The Zoots were finally playing at the venue a stone’s throw away from where the band was formed.
We were so excited to be heading to Lyme regis today. Our first show back in the UK since our trip to Spain to perform on the Independence of The Seas last week.
The 122 year old Marine Theatre hasn’t always been a theatre. The site has been many things to many people for many years. Bazaars, elections, dinners, Victorian holiday visitors stepping out of hot sea baths, fossil displays, public meetings, music, theatre, dance… a babble of people and scenes make up the atmosphere of this rare and charismatic venue. Needless to say, we were looking forward to performing! Continue reading
Today is Saturday the 4th of March and we’re off to Henley to perform at Badgemore Park to perform at the wedding of Claire and Simon! Claire was Jamie’s neighbour and they have been family friends since he was a baby, so we were really looking forward to performing them! We knew it was going to be a great night and we were looking forward to performing in front of lots of people we know. But we had to make sure we were going to put on a very special performance.
We arrived in Henley in good time and just had a quick peep into George Harrison’s old house Friar Park which is right next door to Badgemore Park.
So sorry, its been a total age since we’ve written. There’s no excuse really, apart from we’ve been really busy. Like our feet have hardly touched the ground, until now!
December 2016 was one of THE BEST December’s we’ve ever had. We went to Oman, to UAE, to Germany, France and Belgium. And then we saw the New Year in (on the floor of the airport) in Cuba before sailing to Jamaica!! How lucky are we? I literally have 1000s of photos from our trips, so will include only a few below. If you want to see more, send me an email, and we’ll arrange a slideshow. :)Dubai was hot and interesting. We went to the old Souks (markets) on the river where they sold spices, textiles and gold. We (Tommy) learnt the art of haggling, which came in very useful. We stopped for a bite to eat near the gold souk, where we had some delicious local foods. Jamie bought some of the local attire. We took a little boat across the river (video below) It was an incredible experience.
The Zoots have been soooooo busy this year and have been away so much its been tough to keep up to date with all our news. We had a fantastic November and got to tour some fantastic places; Turkey, Croatia, Portugal, Italy and a brief trip to the Azores. We have some exciting times ahead, in December we are going to the UAE and Oman in the Middle East aswell as Holland, Belgium, Germany and France. To cap it all off we have a show in Cuba on New Years Eve!! Then to Jamaica early January! Lucky us!
Below is a picture of us being the first to arrive at T2 at about 4.00 am on a cold November morning on our way to Turkey. Travelling to all these warmer places makes winter so much better! Continue reading
Don’t you love summer in the UK? We’ve had some good weather days and some back weather days in UK recently. As the UK weather was being some what indecisive, we were looking forward to heading to Lisbon where there was going to be GUARANTEED SUNSHINE. HOORAY. Continue reading
January 2016, do you remember January? So long ago! It was cold and dark and gloomy, but not for us, we were pretty happy because January is when Sonny & Julia decided to get in touch to see if we were available to perform for them on their wedding day on July 23rd 2016. Fast forward 220 days or so, and here we are and we’re on our way to Hothorpe Hall! Continue reading
It’s been a beautiful week of glorious, and some what humid weather, but we’ve been enjoying it. It’s been a busy week at HQ, we’ve had lots of enquiries for bookings for 2017 (and even 2018) which is just brilliant! Today, we’re off to a lovely place, called Hook, in Hampshire. We’re heading to The Frog & Wicket in Hook to perform at their annual cricket day, taking place on England’s oldest functioning cricket pitch. Continue reading
We’ve just (last week, sorry we’ve been busy) returned from Barcelona, but out story today begins in Montenegro, where we headed a few Mondays ago. Kotor to be precise. With a population of of around 13,510 and a town centre steeped in history, Kotor is a lovely place to visit and a place we were looking forward to going back there. Continue reading
We just love the weekend. We’re usually off galavanting around the country, or the globe, performing at all sorts of places. And today is no different. We’re off to Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire to at the Golf Captain’s farewell dinner at West Herts Golf Club. Lee is the current Captain of the golf club; he will be handing over to the next Captain at the end of March, so this dinner and evening of music is to celebrate! 🙂
