It was a busy weekend again for us this week. On Friday we performed in Brean again with our other group Jamie & The First Class – it was great fun. Saturday we were performing at the wedding of Juliette and Nicholas in Sussex at Pandean Barn, it was amazing, read the blog about it here. Sunday we were scheduled to perform in Selsey so it made sense to stay near Pangdean Barn so we could travel down the next day rather than head all the way back to Wiltshire to drive south again.
We were booking quite late in the day, so a lot of the places were already full with wedding guests. We scoured the web, not able to find anything suitable until…we stumbled upon a wee gem on trip advisor – Mercer’s Barn a bed & breakfast barn conversion just 10 minutes from Pangdean Barn. The reviews on trip advisor were brilliant. I emailed the owners straight away, and joy! They had availability for the 5 of us. Mary, the owner sounded just lovely and was incredibly helpful.
After setting up at Pangdean Barn we travelled the short distance to Mercer’s Barn, and wow! It was lovely.
Owners Mary & Peter were there to greet us when we arrived. They were so friendly and welcoming and showed us around the 3 bedroom barn conversion. It was so lovely, so light and so beautifully decorated. There was one bedroom with an en suite, a double bedroom and a single room. Downstairs, there was a breakfast table, beautifully set out and a very large and comfortable sitting area. I loved how colourful the place was and the natural light coming in through the huge doors.
After a quick cup of tea and a bit of a rest, we headed back to Pangdean Barn to perform for Nicholas and Juliette on their wedding day. It was great, everyone was dancing all night! We had a great time!! After packing up and saying our farewells, we headed back to Mercer’s Barn for the night. It was heavenly. I wanted to live there. You could see everything had been thought about so carefully. The bedding was fluffy and fresh, the decor was just perfect. The original beams were spectacular. Peter & Mary explained that it used to be a threshers barn, which explained the height and the huge doors. They have only recently converted it to a bed and breakfast, which was lucky for us, as more people who find out about this gem, I’m sure it will be booked solidly all year!
One of my favourite bits about Mercer’s Barn was the decoration, lots of colour everywhere. It’s exactly how I would have my dream home, and I loved every bit of it. (Hence all the photos).
As an odd co-incidence, host Peter attended the same school Jamie went to in Maidenhead. We even had an old school jacket in the van which we wear with Jamie & The First Class! We couldn’t leave without Peter trying it on! Small world eh!
It was such a wonderful treat to stay at Mercer’s Barn. Hopefully we’ll have a gig around there soon so we can stay there again. We left feeling so refreshed and lovely, ready for our day out in Brighton, read all about it here.
