Seventies tribute show, The Zoots at Blackpool tower, band from Wiltshire, band in Lancashire, band in Blackpool, live band at Blackpool tower, Blackpool tower entertainment, 60s show in Lancashire, Jamie Goddard, 70s tribute band

Yesterday was so fantastic, Our 1960’s show went down so well, we were exhausted.

We stayed at a B&B close to the venue, which Kevin has kindly arranged for us.

As we weren’t far from my parents in Lancashire, we decided to meet up and have a day out with the Lowthers at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
We had a lovely day in the sunshine going on rides, and hanging out with my family. It also happened to be my mums birthday, so I was really pleased that I was able to celebrate the day with her.

We’ve been looking forward to this weekend, since it was booked back in April last year. 41 Club member Kevin had spotted us perform on a cruise and emailed to ask if we would be available to perform at the 41 Club Annual Conference ‘Blackpool Roxx’ on the weekend on the 21st and 22nd of April. 41 Club was formed in 1945 to provide a way for members of Round Table to continue their friendships after retirement from Round Table at the then obligatory age of 40. Once a year they meet for their National Conference, this year the conference was to take place at Blackpool Tower, where The Zoots would be performing on Friday and Saturday evening!  Continue reading

This is the second part of the Blog for our Good Friday show at The Beacon in Wantage, (did you catch up with our antics in part 1?) The show was so good, and we had so many photos and videos from the night, that we had to put it in two parts! At the end of the first show, no one could quite believe what Jamie had done with his guitar! In the break we put on our new costumes which consisted of some Red Guards jackets, as featured in our photo shoot with Michael Randolph last summer. The set started with a new one for us; Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club band followed by ‘With a little help from my friends’ which were originally recorded 50 years ago!

It was our 4th show at The Beacon, Wantage and we had been working really hard to make this show a night to remember. We had lots of new things planned. Tonight would mark our first performance of our very own Zoots song written by lead guitarist Ben Jones, it would be the debut of The Zoots animation intro, the second time Jamie played the piano live on stage, the first time Harriet would sing two songs for the *and* we had some new costumes to show off. People had come far and wide to see the show, our super family fans and cousins; Ben, Vicki and Amy had driven 2 hours to be there! Our friends Amy and Ian and our super young fans Zara and Kaiya had driven from the other side of Bristol.

Amanda's birthday party, CAvendish Hotel, Band for 50th birthday party, Sussex band, Eastbourne band, band from Wiltshire, the zoots party band

“Thank you for the most amazing night on Saturday you certainly performed your hearts out and my party certainly had a ball”

We’re so excited that spring is here. It’s hot and the sun is out. We’re on our way to Eastbourne today, to perform for Stephen and Amanda at Amanda’s birthday party. Amanda knows about the party, but she doesn’t know about us performing, she thinks Stephen has booked another band!

Stephen and Amanda spotted The Zoots when we performed at the Eastbourne Bandstand last year (did you read the blog about our show – there’s some fab photos).

Both Stephen and Amanda loved the show and asked if we would be able to perform for his wife’s surprise party in April 2018. We were available and the date was set! 🙂 Whilst on the phone, chatting to Stephen, he mentioned he was heading to Goodwood Revival that weekend. ‘What a co-incidence’, I said. ‘We’re performing at Goodwood!’. Did you read the blog about our show at Goodwood Revival? It was amazing, and even better was that we were able to meet up with Stephen too!

The date was set and we were looking forward to it!

mentor and friend of The Zoots

There have been many legends in music leaving the stage recently, Bowie, Prince, George Michael, Leonard Cohen, Bobby Vee, Glen Frey, Rick Parfitt & Chuck Berry but there is one music legend we have lost that you may not have heard of; my friend and mentor Laurie Jay.

Laurie started his career as a drummer and played all over the world in countless bands including the Shadows, The Echoes as well as playing for Chuck Berry, Gene Vincent and Jerry Lee Lewis.  He even taught Dave Clark how to play drums! Laurie also fronted his own band the Laurie Jay combo who released 5 records from 1962-1965 the later with Decca records.

Stuart and Emma got in touch with us, after spotting us perform at Bianca and Dan’s wedding at Chaffeymoor Grange in 2016. They enjoyed our show so much, that they emailed to see if we were available to perform at their wedding in March 2017, at the very lovely Dewsall Court. We were available and the date was set!

wedding band in Henley, wedding band Bagdemore Park, party band Henley, party band Badgemore park, Stevie Lange

Today is Saturday the 4th of March and we’re off to Henley to perform at Badgemore Park to perform at the wedding of Claire and Simon! Claire was Jamie’s neighbour and they have been family friends since he was a baby, so we were really looking forward to performing them! We knew it was going to be a great night and we were looking forward to performing in front of lots of people we know. But we had to make sure we were going to put on a very special performance.

We arrived in Henley in good time and just had a quick peep into George Harrison’s old house Friar Park which is right next door to Badgemore Park.

The Zoots band, band in Wales, 60 show in wales, 60s tribute wales, band at bodelwyddan

This year has got off to a great start. It began in Cuba, and then Jamaica, which was just amazing!! Then we headed back to the UK where we’ve had lots of shows keeping us busy. Our performances have taken us to Bath, Oxford, Hertfordshire, Coventry, Taunton, and that’s all before February has finished! And today we’re heading to North Wales, to perform at the lovely Bodelwyddan Castle.

We set off early as we had a long drive ahead of us. The journey was fun as we played ‘guess the film score’ game with Ben’s new bluetooth speaker.

We arrived in good time, and the team at Bodelwyddan Castle showed us to the ahem…*cue proud moment*… ‘Lowther suite’ where we would be playing that evening! You could say it was made for me! hehe!
