HURRAH IT’S SATURDAY THE 20TH OF MAY! We had the best time yesterday performing at The Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis (read the blog about it here) but today it is the wedding of Chris and Rachel and we’re REALLY EXCITED as they are big back to the future fans, and rumour has it, there will be a DeLorean making an appearance! Eeee.

Rachel and Chris were getting married at Lains Barn in Wantage so it was a fairly short drive from Zoots HQ to the Barn. Rachel had spotted us at her hen do at The Beacon, Wantage last year. (remember that? What an awesome show that was!). We were just so pleased that Rachel enjoyed the show so much that she decided to book The Zoots to perform on their wedding day.

We arrived in good time, earlier than the time suggested, because, y’know, it’s good to be early. We were greeted by a member of staff from Lains Barn who showed us where to park. The Barn looked amazing, my photo, not so much! We were greeted by so many wonderful colours and lots of hearts. I LOVED IT SO MUCH!

Christ and Rachel came out to say hello whilst we were waiting. I loved Rachel’s dress. What you can’t see in the photo is that it is covered with lots of little hearts!

Rachel and Chris had so kindly arranged for us to have wedding favours of our own, which included a lego parrot and a colour heart badge with their initials on the back.

We had a bit of time before we were able to set up so we sat in the bar area and enjoyed some food Rachel and Chris had arranged for us, Tommy and Simon made their lego parrots, and Simon had a go on the pac man machine which Chris had built himself! We all made sure we added our finger prints to the guest book too! I really just adored so much about the wedding. The colours and flowers, and fun were right up my street!

A short while later, we headed into the main barn where I was blown away by the amazing and colourful decoration! I love love LOVED The huge balloons filled with confetti, the paper streamers and the paper flowers. So much effort had gone into this colourful loveliness and it looked amazing.

As the couple are big back to the future fans, there was definitely a 50s theme to the wedding. I just loved the bridesmaid dresses (sheck out the video later on to see these). And there was a DeLorean at the wedding earlier! Gutted we missed that, but we’re looking forward to seeing the photos.

We loaded our equipment inside. I didn’t get many photos here. Just this one of bass player Tommy pushing in a speaker. #healwaysdoestheeasystuff.

For their first dance, Rachel and Chris had chosen ‘Earth Angel‘ which we had learnt for them. It was lovely.

The sets went really well. I loved that everyone was wearing their wedding favours and I loved that we all wore ours too!

Here’s a little video compilation from the day:

Thank you so much to Rachel and Chris for choosing The Zoots to be their wedding band for the evening. We honestly had such an amazing time. The beautiful floral creations were down to Ann Laing Flowers, check our the website. Also special hello to Andy Proper, photographer for Rachel and Chris. Andy was lovely and kind enough to take some photos of us, which we’re looking forward to seeing! I’ve just checked out his website so I know they’re gonna be amazing!

Many thanks to Rachel and Chris for sharing this photo on our Facebook page and for their lovely message

“We had the best time ever on Saturday at our wedding, made even better by having The Zoots play. You guys are incredible, we loved the set, your audience interaction was brilliant and our guests didn’t stop dancing!! We will see you again very soon!!”

Here is a time lapse if the day.

Lots of love,

The Zoots, Jamie, Harriet, Ben, Simon & Tommy
