We’re having a great summer, we’re travelling the globe, seeing lots of the UK, performing in some amazing venues and meeting some lovely people. Today is no different as we’re off to Cheltenham Ladies College to perform at the wedding of Christina & Steve.
Stephen got in touch in November 2015 to see if we would be available to perform for him and Christina on their wedding day. We were recommended to Stephen and Christina by the Tizzards who we performed for last week, at the wedding of Alexa and Jason, it was brilliant, read about it here.
Fast forward a week, to the 20th of August 2016 and here we are in Cheltenham. What a wonderful place! I just love Cheltenham, my mum grew up here, and I had many school holidays visiting relatives near by so I was looking forward to returning to this beautiful town.
We’d been in touch with David from the college in the lead up to the big day, he’d been really helpful letting us know where we could park and load in. After a short drive from Wiltshire to Cheltenham, we arrived!
The College was brilliant!
And the room we were performing in was just amazing! And massive. Our PERFECT STAGE SIZE – HUGE! We knew it was going to be a brilliant night!
We unloaded our equipment and set up and sound-checked. We loved having so much space!
I loved the table plan, cake and the paint your own ceramics which I think had been done during Christina’s hen party, what a fantastic idea! I just adored how colourful everything was!
We had some time for some grub before going on, which we enjoyed in one of the classrooms! Took us back to our school days!
Before we knew it, we were on! Christina and Stephen had chosen ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ by Queen for their first dance. It was upbeat and fun and their dancing was brilliant, it wasn’t long before everyone joined the newlyweds on the dance-floor.
We launched into our first set, lead singer, Jamie went out into the crowd and took this photos of us on stage. We had the best time on the huge stage, running around and enjoying the space!
Here’s a little video of the night, sorry it’s a bit shaky, I was doing it mostly one handed. I cannot get enough of lead guitarist Ben‘s playing, he is so awesome and I will never tire of hearing him play. Make sure you watch to the end, I just love Stephen and Christina dancing together to Take That at the end of the night, surrounded by their friends and family. It was such a great night!
Here are some more photos from the night. There was such a great energy and atmosphere in the room.
I love the lights we use, look at drummer Simon, lit up in ALL THE COLOURS.
Here are a couple of photos before and during the set. We had to take a photo of groom Stephen with Tommy, as we couldn’t believe we finally found someone taller than our very tall (and very brilliant) bass player!
Thank you so much to Stephen and Christina for choosing the Zoots to be their band for their most special of special days. Thank you to the Tizzards for recommending us to them. Thank you David and the team at Cheltenham Ladies College for being so brilliant (David said we were the best band they’ve had there *blushes*). Thank you to the catering team for giving us food, (thank you to Stephen and Christina for organising this). Thank you to the bar staff for dancing and singing along and keeping us hydrated (they told us we made the night fly by). Thank you to the porters at CLC who showed us where to go and unlocked doors for us. Thank you to the mystery wedding guest who helped us load out our equipment. Thank you to all of the guests at the wedding who were BRILLIANT. Please can you come to all of our shows?!
We received this lovely email from Stephen and Christina shortly after the night of all nights:
‘Harriet, Jamie, Ben, Simon, Tommy,
Wow wow WOW!
You guys really put on an absolutely cracking show for us. Thank you SO much, all of you.
We had an absolutely brilliant time, and you kept the dance floor lit all night! We had soooo many of our guests remark on how amazing you guys were. You helped make it a really memorable celebration indeed, both for us and our family and friends. Thank you.
Christina and Steve
