Last week The Zoots ventured down the M4 West, then heading South towards Somerset to perform at Cricket St Thomas Hotel. The hotel has been used as a location for many TV shows including 80s sitcom ‘To the Manor Born’ and was once the home of Crinkley Bottom Theme Park, Blobbyland – seriously! We we really impressed as we headed down the grand driveway.
Lauren and the entertainment team greeted us when we arrived. They were really helpful, very friendly and just brilliant, making sure we had absolutely everything we could need. We loaded in our equipment and set up. We were excited to be performing with Dan’s big double bass again.
After set up, we went and had some lovely grub. I was looking forward to seeing an old friend and client from many years ago, Peter McKeown, who was making a special trip to come down and watch our show.
After dinner, and a good catch up with Peter, we got ready backstage.
We had a slightly amusing start to show as our intro played a lot slower than it was supposed to. It made us laugh though!
We kicked off the set with ‘Sunny Afternoon’ by The Kinks, which was number one the last time England won the football world cup! I love this song, it has such a happy feel to it. Lucy from the entertainments team took so fab photos below. Thank you Lucy!
It was great to see Peter in the crowd. I (Jamie) performed for at a party way back in 2003. It was a fab reunion and we even managed to get Peter up to play with us.
Here is a video from the night which Peter kindly took for us.
All the best,
Jamie & The Zoots
