Wayhay *finally* it’s August the 8th! We’ve been waiting for this day for months and months. Today it the day of Libby & Simon’s wedding. They got in touch with us last September asking if we were free to perform on their day and if we had any public gigs coming up they could come and watch. We said yes and yes! By chance, we were preparing for a 1960s themed event at Windsor Guild Hall which was a public event! (unfortunately it was during those ‘pre-blog’ days so photos are not online but it was so so good, rumour has it even Jimmy Page came to watch us), anyway…I told Libby about the event and she and Simon made the journey from Bristol to come watch us! And the rest is history, well not quite…
They said yes! And we were booked to perform on their wedding day at the very amazing Bowood House. One of our favourite ever venues to perform at. Arno, Hannah, Jade and the team are just brilliant and are always such a real pleasure to work with. We love working with them!
Before the big day, we met with Simon & Libby at Bowood House to run through the itinerary, set up and logistics. We saw the room we were performing in and worked out where we would set up. It was so great to do this, not only did it give us another excuse to meet up with the lovely Simon & Libby, but really helped us prepare for the day.
At last! the day was here. Team Zoots arrived, loaded in and set up. Special thanks to Arno at Bowood House for his help with the load in. The room looked lovely. We were setting up as it was being ‘turned around’ for the evening. The team at Bowood House were so efficient in making sure this was done as quickly as possible so we could access the space we were performing in. The cake, the room, the lighting, the colours and the lovely attention to detail meant the room looked just amazing.
We quickly got changed we were soon to be on! Libby & Simon had chosen their first dance ages ago, ‘Ho-Hey’ by The Lumineers, a song we all loved and were looking forward to playing. We learnt and rehearsed it back in January, during our intensive Zoots practice sessions so it sounded great. Such a cool first dance, everyone was singing along! After that it all was a bit hazy, the first set flew by, we played some awesome songs from our repertoire, ‘I Want You back,’ “Do You Wanna Dance”, ‘I’m Your’s” (sung by lead guitarist Ben Jones), Town Called Malice, and SO MANY OTHERS. It was so freaking brilliant. The dance floor was packed!
During our break, the buffet was served, there was halloumi, bacon butties, and potato wedges. We had a wee nibble on these delights to keep up our energy for the next set!
It had begun. And it was WILD. SO.SO.WILD. Libby & Simon and their guests, did not stop dancing. It was, well…utterly immense. We had such a good time and crammed so much into the second set. ‘Living on a Prayer’, “Get Lucky’, “Happy’ Billionaire’, ‘Sweet Home Alabama”, crikey, the list of songs really was endless. Sweat ran down from our faces and into our eyes, we couldn’t see but we sang, we played and we danced. We were having a great time. It was such a great feeling. The guests were so wonderful and such a great crowd to perform to. We even had a special guest for ‘500 Miles’ (would love to see some photos if anyone has any?!). But thats enough now for words, let the photos do the talking…
Wowee, it was brilliant! Thank you so much to Libby & Simon for choosing us to be their wedding band. You may have gathered, we had such a great time performing for this pretty special couple. Were you there? Send us your photos or tag us on Facebook!
