I was lucky enough to grow up in the town of Maidenhead in Berkshire and ever since Norden Farm, Centre for the Arts was built in 2000, I have always wanted to play there. It was so close when I lived in Maidenhead, I used to walk to the venue and watch some of the live music events there. When I formed The Zoots, I hoped we’d, one day, perform at Norden Farm, and today was that day, The Zoots were finally playing at the venue a stone’s throw away from where the band was formed.
“Thank you for the most amazing night on Saturday you certainly performed your hearts out and my party certainly had a ball”
We’re so excited that spring is here. It’s hot and the sun is out. We’re on our way to Eastbourne today, to perform for Stephen and Amanda at Amanda’s birthday party. Amanda knows about the party, but she doesn’t know about us performing, she thinks Stephen has booked another band!
Both Stephen and Amanda loved the show and asked if we would be able to perform for his wife’s surprise party in April 2018. We were available and the date was set! 🙂 Whilst on the phone, chatting to Stephen, he mentioned he was heading to Goodwood Revival that weekend. ‘What a co-incidence’, I said. ‘We’re performing at Goodwood!’. Did you read the blog about our show at Goodwood Revival? It was amazing, and even better was that we were able to meet up with Stephen too!
The date was set and we were looking forward to it!
So sorry, its been a total age since we’ve written. There’s no excuse really, apart from we’ve been really busy. Like our feet have hardly touched the ground, until now!
December 2016 was one of THE BEST December’s we’ve ever had. We went to Oman, to UAE, to Germany, France and Belgium. And then we saw the New Year in (on the floor of the airport) in Cuba before sailing to Jamaica!! How lucky are we? I literally have 1000s of photos from our trips, so will include only a few below. If you want to see more, send me an email, and we’ll arrange a slideshow. :)Dubai was hot and interesting. We went to the old Souks (markets) on the river where they sold spices, textiles and gold. We (Tommy) learnt the art of haggling, which came in very useful. We stopped for a bite to eat near the gold souk, where we had some delicious local foods. Jamie bought some of the local attire. We took a little boat across the river (video below) It was an incredible experience.
January 2016, do you remember January? So long ago! It was cold and dark and gloomy, but not for us, we were pretty happy because January is when Sonny & Julia decided to get in touch to see if we were available to perform for them on their wedding day on July 23rd 2016. Fast forward 220 days or so, and here we are and we’re on our way to Hothorpe Hall! Continue reading
It’s our very favourite part of the week, being a very busy band means we’re usually off doing what we love most. And this weekend, it’s a good ‘un. We’re off to perform at Bebe’s birthday party at the very swish Vineyard Hotel in Newbury.
It was Bebe’s sister, Jessie, who got in touch to see if we were available to be the band for the night. Now, if you’ve just joined us, let me tell you about Jessie. We performed at Jessie’s wedding way back in 2014 (I couldn’t believe it either, it really did feel like it was only yesterday!). You can read our blog about our performance at Jessie & Christian’s wedding at Huntsham Court. Jessie wore one of the most beautiful dresses ever – I loved the colours and details (see the photo below). We were just so thrilled when Jessie got in touch to ask us to perform again, I think being rebooked is one of the best compliments we can ever receive!
Today is pretty special, we’re off to the British Medical Association in Tavistock Square, London for the wedding of the very gorgeous Natalie & Rhys. Natalie & Rhys spotted us at the very brilliant wedding of Cat & Phil, remember that? Over a year ago, but still fresh in our minds. We did a lot of Zeppelin that night, which went down a storm!
We don’t often head to the big smoke as we’re performing lots over seas and in our home county of Wiltshire as well as having lots of bookings throughout the UK. We were excited. The feeling was palpable. Zoots Drummer Andy lives in the big smoke and told us it would be OK as we navigated our way through the labyrinth of little roads and lots of traffic. Continue reading
Today it’s Tuesday. It’s 6am and Zoots HQ is a hive of activity. Last minute packing, quick cups of teas, early morning showers and the packing of the Zootmobile, are all happening on this early May Tuesday. The grass is dewy and spirits are high. We’re looking forward to the day ahead.
Only this Saturday we performed for Emily & Jack on their wedding day, and the weekend before we had a blast performing for those dancing Queens in Little Hadham at the charity bash in aid of NeST. Needless to say it’s been a busy few weeks of performances.
The early start this Tuesday morning was down to performing on our very first Royal Caribbean cruise of the season. We we’re getting ready to catch a flight to Pisa to meet the Allure of The Seas, THE BIGGEST CRUISE SHIP IN THE OCEAN! We were joining the ship to perform with our pretty popular 1960s show, more about that later. Now, we’re Gatwick bound, brushing up on our Italian in preparation for our night in Pisa. Continue reading
Today we’re off to Lytham St Annes. Yes waaaaaaay up North. We’re perform at the Clifton Arms Hotel. Strangely, and genuinely unconnected, I’ve just been reading about how the Clifton Arms do a fabulous afternoon tea. So if you’re in Lytham, go there. We didn’t try it but the Internet says its really good. Continue reading
OK so July has flown by. We’ve been so so busy, but its been great. We’ve been very lucky to visit loads of cool places (did you read our blog about Norway?), and perform for some amazing couples. Last week we flew to Stockholm. We were performing with our 1960s show on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, ‘Brilliance of The Seas’. The day began with breakfast at Heathrow before boarding our flight bound for Stockholm.
We arrived in Stockholm, our hotel was awesome, really cool and modern. It was early evening when we arrived so we decided to take a stroll around the Old Town. It was a lovely evening. Continue reading
