I was lucky enough to grow up in the town of Maidenhead in Berkshire and ever since Norden Farm, Centre for the Arts was built in 2000, I have always wanted to play there. It was so close when I lived in Maidenhead, I used to walk to the venue and watch some of the live music events there. When I formed The Zoots, I hoped we’d, one day, perform at Norden Farm, and today was that day, The Zoots were finally playing at the venue a stone’s throw away from where the band was formed.
We LOVE performing at the Alhambra Theater, a HUGE stage, an awesome PA, soooo many wicked lights, 2000 seats over 2 tiers and an awesome crew to work with!Jacko, Stage Manager, Gerry on sound, Mike on lights and Greg backstage are just brilliant. We opened the show with our new animated introduction which shows The Zoots coming from home to the stage. We have adding so many things to the show and we were really looking forward to showing them off.
It was our 4th show at The Beacon, Wantage and we had been working really hard to make this show a night to remember. We had lots of new things planned. Tonight would mark our first performance of our very own Zoots song written by lead guitarist Ben Jones, it would be the debut of The Zoots animation intro, the second time Jamie played the piano live on stage, the first time Harriet would sing two songs for the *and* we had some new costumes to show off. People had come far and wide to see the show, our super family fans and cousins; Ben, Vicki and Amy had driven 2 hours to be there! Our friends Amy and Ian and our super young fans Zara and Kaiya had driven from the other side of Bristol.
As a band we get to travel around alot and we get to see some lovely places, recently we’ve been to Kusadasi, La Coruna, Split, Lisbon and The Azores. It is a brilliant journey and we are having a great time, we just need to remember to tell everyone about it! Continue reading
The Zoots have been soooooo busy this year and have been away so much its been tough to keep up to date with all our news. We had a fantastic November and got to tour some fantastic places; Turkey, Croatia, Portugal, Italy and a brief trip to the Azores. We have some exciting times ahead, in December we are going to the UAE and Oman in the Middle East aswell as Holland, Belgium, Germany and France. To cap it all off we have a show in Cuba on New Years Eve!! Then to Jamaica early January! Lucky us!
Below is a picture of us being the first to arrive at T2 at about 4.00 am on a cold November morning on our way to Turkey. Travelling to all these warmer places makes winter so much better! Continue reading
After a great day in Lisbon, we were feeling refreshed and happy and really looking forward to our show in the Alhambra Theatre. We just love it here, lots of comfy seats, fabulous lights, a huge stage and a great team! We knew this evening was going to be fantastic. Continue reading
This week was so brilliant. It was The Zoots‘ first theatre show with our new bassist Tommy Lloyd. We’ve spent a lot of time at ‘The Farm’, practicing; running through our four part harmonies, working on some new songs and some new moves! Many thanks to Andy and Deb and of course Tommy for putting us up, (or for putting up with us)! Continue reading
Well 2016 has started off with a bang! We began the year in Israel with Jamie & The First Class (it’s still us, just different outfits). Read all about the great time we had performing overseas here. Last Friday The Zoots were in Oxford for Opp’s New Year party at the very amazing Randoph Hotel. Then it was off to Little Hadham to perform at Christine’s birthday bash, where we witnessed some of the best dancing we have ever seen (photos to follow shortly!).
Today is Tuesday, and we’re looking back. Waaaaaay back in 2010 (remember that?!), We remember it well. It was when The Zoots performed one of their first Christmas shows at Corton Coastal Village. And that’s where we were headed today.
Across the M4, around the M25, up the M11 and down the A12 to East Anglia; bound for Corton Coastal Village for an awesome 50’s and 60’s themed party.
A lot has happened since 2010, The Zoots have since travelled all over Europe, the Middle East and USA. The band are now a five piece, we’ve got a new line up, new equipment, new van and we’ve got the best show we’ve ever had. We were looking forward to showing the guests all our shiny new bits.
The Zoots have been very busy recently and been travelling all over the place by planes, train and luxury taxi’s. Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of performing three shows at the very impressive The Amber Theatre. We set up for souncheck where we met our seven members of the crew. Here is a picture of Liam, our fantasic sound man and a few pictures from our stage set up and soundcheck.
