If you were going to trilly on down to the Frolic pad to hear some Gabriels blow some Armstrongs, when you noticed a Bree checking out your new threads and you really wanted to take her to your Cubby and Barrel House.........What would you be doing????.......Ok here's a little help for you ....
Jive was defined by Cab Callaway as Harlemese speech
Armstrongs = musical notes in the upper register IE: high trumpet notes
Barrel House = free and easy
Bree = girl
Canary = female vocalist
Cubby = room, flat, home
Dime note = ten dollar bill
Dutchess = girl
Frolic Pad = place of entertainment, nightclub, theatre
Foxy = shrewd
Gabriels = trumpet players
Hepcat = someone who "knows"....understands Jive
Kopasetic = absolutely okay, the cat's pajamas, the tops
Jelly = free, on the house
Meter = quarter, twenty five cents
Nod = sleep
Pad = bed
Righteous = splendid, ok
Signify = to declare yourself, to brag, boast
Square = an unHep person
Threads = suit, dress, or costume
Trilly = to leave, depart
Zoot Suit = (as defined by Cab Callaway) overexaggerated clothes
